A Day with Yoga Strengthening Body and Mind Through Tradition

The Beginning During Uncertain Times

In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, when physical activity and mental well-being were severely impacted, Taekwondo Master Rao recognised the urgent need for balance and recovery. With a strong belief in India’s traditional wellness systems, he initiated the “A Day with Yoga” programme to promote the ancient Indian art of yoga among Taekwondo athletes and their families.

The programme was introduced as a supportive initiative during a period marked by isolation, stress, and uncertainty.

Yoga as a Tool for Wellness and Fitness

The core focus of A Day with Yoga lies in enhancing both physical fitness and mental well-being through structured yoga practices. Participants are guided through techniques that improve flexibility, strength, breathing control, and mental calm elements that are essential for athletes and non-athletes alike.

During the pandemic, these practices proved especially beneficial in helping individuals maintain health, manage stress, and restore emotional balance.

Response and Continued Practice

The positive response to the programme highlighted the relevance and effectiveness of yoga in everyday life. Participants experienced improved focus, reduced anxiety, and better physical conditioning, reinforcing the importance of integrating wellness practices into regular routines. Encouraged by its success, Yakshit Yuva Foundation transitioned A Day with Yoga into a biannual programme, allowing participants to consistently reconnect with yoga as a long-term wellness practice.

Building Long-Term Resilience

By conducting the programme on a recurring basis, the Foundation supports participants in developing habits that contribute to sustained well-being and resilience. Yoga is no longer introduced as a temporary activity, but as a lifelong practice that complements sports training and daily life. This balanced approach helps individuals strengthen both body and mind, preparing them to cope with challenges beyond the training environment.

Why Yoga Matters in Youth and Family Wellness

The programme underscores the importance of holistic health, particularly within athletic families. By involving both athletes and their families, A Day with Yoga promotes shared wellness experiences, reinforcing healthy lifestyles across generations.

Closing Reflection

A Day with Yoga reflects Yakshit Yuva Foundation’s commitment to blending traditional Indian wisdom with modern wellness needs. What began as a timely response during a global crisis has evolved into a meaningful initiative that continues to support physical health, mental clarity, and long-term resilience.
“In times of uncertainty, balance becomes strength  yoga nurtures the body, steadies the mind, and builds resilience that endures far beyond the moment.”
